When work gets to be a bit too stressful and you feel like you haven’t been on a vacation in what seems like forever, getting away for a few days on the weekend or even during the week is the best thing you can do for yourself. To escape into the mountains and to be surrounded by the quietness of nature, Mont Tremblant is the place to go. Over the years, I’ve noticed that I’ve been falling more and more in love with my own province and surrounding areas and I’ve been wanting to explore more of Quebec so for my last week of vacation this year, we headed off to Mont Tremblant in the Laurentians. From a famous ice cream brand that is found in virtually every grocery store throughout the province of Quebec to being the home of North America’s longest suspended bridge, Coaticook is a unique and adventure filled destination for your next road trip. The town is home to about 10,000 inhabitants and is found in the stunning region of the Eastern Townships bordering the U.S state of Vermont. Coaticook is not only a beautiful town, it is also the perfect mix of city and country to appeal to everybody’s tastes, with stunning, rural landscapes as well as a thriving city center dotted with quaint, little shops and restaurants.

With a little over 1,000 inhabitants, the small village of Venise en Quebec boasts beautiful beaches and stunning landscapes and is only 45 minutes away from Montreal. This choice holiday destination is found on the banks of the Lake Champlain between the stunning region of the Eastern Townships and the state of Vermont. Here you will find visitors flocking to the village during the summer months for the endless beaches and campsites but Venise also gets a lot of love in the winter for the popular ice fishing spots found on the lake.

EXPLORING THE KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

Often referred to as the ‘prison capital’ of Canada, Kingston is home to 7 different prisons and institutions. One of the most notorious of these seven is the now shut down Kingston Penitentiary often referred to as KP or Kingston Penn. When we visited Kingston in the summer, we got the chance to visit the penitentiary and to learn all about the history of the prison. Tours are available throughout much of the year and brings visitors inside the walls of this infamous penitentiary. For this blog post I’ll be sharing with you a few photos from our visit here as well as some information if ever you’re looking into exploring the penitentiary for yourself.

LOOKING BACK ON TWENTY SEVENTEEN

First things first, I would love to wish you all a happy new year and to thank each and everyone of you that have been reading and following my blog over the past year. At the end of 2016 I vowed to spend more time perfecting my blog and being more active on here and I’m happy to say that I’ve stuck through with it. Another thing that I set out to do in 2017 was to explore more of Quebec, my home province and where I’ve always lived. Though I may not have been able to discover as much as I would’ve liked due to some certain bumps in the road that I encountered this year, I’m determined to explore even more in 2018 along with other places. So with that said, please enjoy my 2017 recap of all of my favorite memories and highlights of the past year, here’s hoping that 2018 is even better.
