Huttopia, the place where your mornings start off with the chirping of the birds and the sounds of the forest around you, waking up for the day. The place where your first coffee of the day tastes just a bit better heated over a campfire and where your breakfast is enjoyed in the company of the surrounding pines and maple trees. It is the place where your worries melt away and where you will feel most at peace. Regardless of the type of accommodation that you choose, whether it be a rustic campsite in the depths of the forest or a cozy cabin with all of the fittings, one thing is for certain and that is, that your time at Huttopia will be a relaxing one. Here is our experience spending the weekend in Huttopia’s Trappeur Duo Nature tent.
Located near the base of Mont Sutton, about an hour outside of Montreal, Huttopia is home to 160 acres of land and forest as well as dozens of spots to spend the night. Having previously spent weekends here either in a cabin for a cozy fall getaway or camping out in the middle of the woods during the summer months, our choice of accommodation this time around was a Trappeur Duo Nature tent. These tents are the perfect definition of glamping, as they come equipped with just about everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay without compromising on the feeling of being out in the wilderness. These unique tents come fitted with the comfiest king size bed, plenty of storage space, a bathroom area with dry toilet (which definitely came in handy as the closest bathrooms were about a 5 minute walk away), as well a little kitchen area with all the cookware and utensils you could need. That’s not all though, these wood and canvas tents, also come with a large patio area out front and with a grill to enjoy and plenty of outdoor seating to lounge on, this is definitely the focal point of the tent.
Now let’s talk amenities. What does Huttopia, a campground chain with locations in New Hampshire, New York, Maine, and Europe, have to offer activity and food wise? Well, aside from the on site restaurant offering delicious homemade meals such as wood fired pizzas, the site also offers an abundance of different activities to partake in during your stay. If you’re visiting with kids, you’ll definitely want to check out the multiple different playground areas around the site. If not, there are also tons of hiking and mountain biking trails to discover as well as an outdoor pool, where you can enjoy a quick drip with the surrounding forest towering around you on either side.
Overall, minus a small hiccup at the beginning of the trip with our tent key not working, our stay at Huttopia was a relaxing and enjoyable one. The staff here is always quick to help and assist with anything you may need and even though Sutton is within an hour’s drive from us, being in the forest here makes you feel like you’re in a completely different region. Even better, the location of our tent meant that we had a view of the waterfall and river down the embankment and we got the fall asleep to the sound of the rushing water every night, which I must say, was very nice. We are excited to visit again and to explore more of what Huttopia has in store.
