Hi there and welcome back to the blog! Today I’ll be sharing with you yet another interesting place that I discovered right here in Quebec. When I visited Kingston, Ontario during the summer we ended up actually taking a guided tour through the Kingston Penitentiary (stay tuned for a full blog post about that coming soon) and it was probably one of the funnest things we did on that whole trip. After that, it got me wondering if there were any old, abandoned prisons closer to me that I could go explore and get some pictures of. I recently discovered the Old Prison of Trois Rivieres which can be found only about 1h30 away from where I live so today I’ll be sharing with you a few pictures from that as well as a little bit of the history of the prison. Enjoy!
Another month and yet another Universal Yums box to review. This month we’re embarking on a journey to the European country of Belgium who are widely known for their decadent chocolate, waffles, and of course, beer. Once under the rule of the Netherlands, Belgium broke free from that in 1830 and became their own separate nation. They created their own culture and made their country a place that was distinctively their own. Though Belgium is quite a small country in size, it makes up for with their delicious snacks, stunning architecture, and unique culture. Let’s hop right into all of these chocolates and waffles that we have to try this month.
For the longest time, every time I was driving on the highway, I would see the tourist signs showing the way for the Saint Benedict Abbey. Every time I saw these signs, I would make a mental note to look the place up whenever I had the chance and it always seemed to slip my mind. When I finally got around to researching what this place was and what it was all about, I was so stunned to see how beautiful the architecture of this abbey was and how close it was to where I live. So on an overly too hot day in September I made my way to the Saint Benedict Abbey and so I’ll be sharing with you today some of the photos that I took while I was here and also a bit of information about the place so that you can plan your own trip here as well.
